Impronta ottica in implantologia

The ability to take an impression of an implant site is linked to the fact that the implant system has the clinically required components and their virtual analogues in CAD software libraries. In recent years, a large majority of manufacturers have worked in this direction, making it possible to produce the implant-supported prosthesis from the optical impression.

As with the classic method using elastomers, the principle is to accurately locate the implant in all three planes of space in relation to the adjacent teeth and the mucosal environment. To achieve this, it is necessary to use a specific transfer compatible with the optical impression, and for the CAD software to have its virtual analogue. We'll illustrate our point with a simple clinical case: the impression of a unitary element in position 46 . The prosthetic solution envisaged is a customized abutment and a crown…

"Here too, in the field of implant-supported prosthetics, the optical impression brings speed and simplicity to the clinical phases, while demonstrating a high degree of precision. Current limitations include abutment spacing and full-arch cases for which validation has not yet been obtained."
